Nick Schlauch started going to dirt
modified and sprint car races at the age of six with
his father. At age 16, he started helping a couple of local
racers with their cars. In 1977, at the age of 18, Nick
started his racing career at Flemington Speedway in the
sportsman rookie division. It took a couple of years
to learn the "ins and outs" of racing, but in 1979, Nick
won the sportsman small block division point championship
and the New Jersey state point championship.
Nick then moved to Modified Big Blocks.
In 1982, Nick and fellow racer Chip Slocum started S&S
Speed Supplies. As the business grew, Nick turned his attention
to building dirt modifieds, building winning cars for Kenny
Brightbill, Chip Slocum, Elvin Felty, and many others.
Racing can be atiring business and after seven days a week
for 14 years, Nick had the opportunity to sell the business.
Nick actually relaxed for a year or two, but in 1998, he
found himself back in racing. This time, the drivers would
be his kids.
Angie and Nick Jr. were just starting their
quarter midget racing careers, and before long, Nick was
back building cars. From 2000-2003, Schlauch Race Cars
built 60 quartermidgets. Angie finished her career in 2001
and Nick Jr. moved onto microsprints in 2003.
Nick has built many different types of
cars throughout the years. Along with quartermidgets, he
has buit dirt modifieds, midgets, microsprints, late models,
and street stocks for dirt and asphalt.
In 2002 Schlauch Race Cars became a dealer
for RTS Chassis and have been assembling new 250 microsprints
for several race teams. Schlauch Race Cars is looking forward
to the 2004 season.
Remember, if you see our trailer at a race
track, it will be stocked with RTS and other related microsprint
parts. |
