Nick Jr., started his racing career at the age of eight in quarter midgets. Nick learned to win on both dirt and asphalt in every class that he raced. In 2002, he won the Snydersville Light 160 Championship. In 2003, at the age of 13, Nick started racing 270cc Micro Sprints. Nick had 1 win, 5 second place finishes, 10 top five finishes and 20 top ten finishes.
In 2004, Nick Jr., won six feature races, one at Greenwood Valley, Orangeville, PA; two at Hill Valley, Orbisonia, PA and three at Middleford Speedway, Seaford, DE. Nick also raced to 23 top five finishes and 31 top ten finishes along with 15 qualifying race wins in all. Nick raced 42 times at seven different race tracks. At 15-years-old, Nick's driving style has impressed many veteran race car drivers.
In 2005, Nick Jr., moved up to the bigger and faster 600 sprints. In his Rookie year he had won three features, had 24 top five finishes, 29 top ten finishes along with 14 qualifying heat wins, one fast time award and one dash win. Topping off the season he was the 600 Hill Valley point champion and rookie of the year, and the United Micro Sprint Racing Association 600 Unlimited point champion.
Nick Schlauch, Sr., is the car owner and head mechanic on Nick's car. Nick Sr., is dedicated to racing. He fully understands what it takes to put young Nick out front to win races and gain the most experience for his sponsors. The third member of the team is Nick Jr.'s grandfather, also named Nick. When we go to the track, it's with three generations of racing. The eldest Nick's racing started as a young boy watching midgets at Yellow Jacket Speedway in Philadelphia, PA., though he has never raced himself, he has watched thousands of races. He also takes care of the sheet metal fabrication on the race car and helps with a lot of the weekly maintenance on his grandson's car.

After having what most would decide as a perfect rookie year in 2005 in the 600cc micro sprints, Nick Jr., set out to start his 2006 season in Florida at East Bay Speedway for the speed weeks in February. His first night he finished second in qualifying but a motor problem kept him from starting the feature. Night two was rained out, and the final night, Nick won his qualifying race and then drew an invert number that started him sixteenth in the A-Main. He moved forward and by lap 18 was running 3rd when the engine blew and speed week was over.
The second week of March, Nick went to Trailways Speedway. After qualifying in the feature, Nick was running 12th with 5 laps to go when disaster struck, a rear suspension part broke sending Nick into the wall coming out of turn two at a very high rate of speed. The impact destroyed the race car and rendered Nick unconscious. He was helicoptered to York Medical Center where he underwent testing and was released the following morning with a concussion, bumps and bruises. Doctors advised him to take 4-6 weeks off giving us time to build a new car and Nick was back racing 2 days shy of a month in April. From that point, he has come back to win three features; two at Hill Valley and one at Bridgeport Speedway, along with 21 top five finishes and 25 top ten finishes in his last 29 races.
Schlauch Motorsports has purchased 2 full-size sprint cars for 2007. Nick will race at Lincoln Speedway in Hanover, PA in the 410 division. Nick will enter his 10th year of racing in 2007 and is looking forward to the highly competitive world of sprint cars.
